Sleepwalking to Oblivion
Evil has many forms and shapes and impacts. It is easy to summon and like a virus spreads easily. Over time, entire governments and nations become dominated by such evil that they cannot help but destroy themselves. Such was the case of any civilization that rose and fell.
The tell-tale signs of the fall are clear, and to some degree, have been clear for those who study or understand history, economics, philosophy or other disciplines. Hubris blinds the powerful to their own demise. In the words of Hannah Arendt:
The death of human empathy is one of the earliest and most telling signs of a culture about to fall into barbarism.
It’s not so much that human empathy is dying, but that it is being killed. Efforts, world-wide, but visible in Donald Trump’s America, show students who support Palestine being harassed and deported. All groups contrary to government opinion are being investigated; infiltrated and in some cases extensions of clandestine actors. Palestine, like Vietnam before, was worth fighting for and represents much more than a regional conflict or genocide. As more government rules and policies secure corporate media perspectives and efforts to divide the population, women and children are being murdered by bombs made in the USA.
Democracy no longer has any checks and balances; it’s hard to even consider that it can limit the power and control of deep state elites. The unbridled capitalistic urge to exploit and control creates the conditions for war over resources or as a consequence of bankruptcy and efforts to dissolve. The coming years will be difficult ones for Americans and the West, and it’s clear to see how they turn on each other. The Nordstream pipeline is only the tip of the iceberg. Decades of divisive vitriol, intolerance and false pride through media manipulation have created an ignorant and controllable majority.
The EU and NATO control most Europeans, at least by effect. They could force them all to war if they wanted. The nations that cheerlead conflict with Russia for the most part, though NATO and EU partners, have virtually no military might. The “coalition of the willing,” the neo-con catch phrase for the wars against Iraq, is going on tour though few are buying tickets. In fact, swathes of wealth are leaving Europe faster than one can say Brexit. Operation Gladio was instrumental in maintaining elite control of Europe for decades. Institutions formed through these covert means formed the foundation for current extensions in manufactured consent be it a color revolution, the National Endowment for Democracy or extensive spying and coercion.
Americans are controlled by information overload and desensitization in a way similar to how Aldus Huxley predicted authoritarianism, echoed by Erick Fromm as a fear of freedom. Americans are starting to look around and finding that they are the bad guys, though most are in denial or have become zealots to barbarism and some form of hatred. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and have little time to consider the past or the future. Working people once trusted the Democrats, but the party of the people abandoned the common man a long time ago and are now the party of war, with Dick Cheney pulling strings like the Churchill Americans always wanted. Scratch a liberal, find a fascist. Oh they hate to hear that, but isn’t that the nature of evil — ignorant of ones hate and injustice through some mental gymnastics to justify it all. To some degree, and from an indigenous American perspective, they (colonial powers) and the West have always been the bad guys; it’s just no one wanted to hear their stories. Well, not no one, but most are led to believe they were all savages until receiving the word of christ or government protection.
Today, people barely have the right to breath, and that is arguable. The right to protest is being outlawed in numerous ways. Elections are not usually fair or a representation of the people, in nearly every country. The system was easy to manipulate and it cannot be fixed. Oligarchic control has produced a dystopian world of greater numbers of have-nots at the mercy of their billionaire overlords. The wealthy have retreated into gated on-claves and bunkers and I wonder if they know the agricultural system is broken or intended it that way.
Neo-con thinking in America has been that China’s rise will eclipse America in the next 5-10 years. They believe that it is now or never to complete their plans to dominate the world and destroy China. Threats and posturing to attack Iran and recent strikes on Yemen are a part of this larger action. The world is on the brink of world war three. The only question is will the neo-cons go all the way to save their seats and power to control what remains after the fall?
All the wars would stop if the American president decided to do so. There are others in the west who wish to prolong the proxy war with Russia. They maintain power and control through such policy. What democracy or free nation censors news sources or locks up non-violent protesters? Is there another “democracy” with anywhere close to 900 miliary bases all over the world?
Netanyahu is hardly popular with his people and definitely not with the world. Many jews oppose him and, in fact, Netanyahu, though Jewish, is not a representation of the Jewish people. He is an extension of Zionist thought and policy. Zionists are very powerful and determined. There views are opposed by many if not most Jews. The power apparatus and links of Zionists, CIA, Masoud, MI6 and AIPAC has been well documented, but much like the deep state, has a lot of control in America; the Zionists control Israeli policy. Sometimes it is not clear if the dog is wagging the tale or the tale is wagging the dog. So many events have shaped the status quo and were put into motion at the end of the last world war – the seeds of the next one.
The forces of evil are organized and funded. Their actions impact so many who never have a say or voice. As we sleepwalk into oblivion, will anyone really care? Will it even be allowed, to care?
